“Billions and Billions” (of planets, not money)

In April of this year I wrote  about space – “Is Anyone (Else) Out There???.” In that article I told about the vastness of the universe and the fact that our mortal minds aren’t able to comprehend even a little bit about how LARGE the Heavens are and, likewise, how BIG our God is.

Here is a short video that shows the results of a search conducted by NASA’s Hubble Telescope group 13 years ago. In it, they centered on a (supposed) “empty” spot in space, and after a time delay, they displayed what “Hubble” found.  Now that image has been enhanced; that is the purpose of this video. This is a purely scientific finding but it affirms what I had previously written about – hundreds of billions of galaxies, each of which has hundreds of billions of stars and each star is a solar system similar to our own. The estimate is that there are 10,000 billions of galaxies in the “known” universe!

Add to that the fact that the Hubble telescope is a man-made instrument with it’s obvious limitations. Even now, NASA is gearing toward launching and orbiting (in 2014) into outer space – one million miles from Earth – a newer, more advanced telescope, The James Webb Space Telescope, to replace the 20-year-old Hubble, and it will be 100 times more powerful!

As you watch the video remember that man has only barely touched upon space exploration, whether by vehicle or by telescope.  You can imagine that, when we reach our Heavenly destination, space travel will be as simple as thinking to be at a particular place, and we will be!
